Moms stay energized no matter how much there is to do. From morning to night their schedules are full. Perhaps it’s time to give yourself a Mother’s Day gift this year. Here are some suggestions. (PS – It’s okay to think about yourself once in a while):
• Make time for yourself: Take a break. Read a book, call a friend. Make this moment about you. Treat yourself to a healthy snack, soak in a bubble bath, go for a walk, enjoy a nap, meditate, take in a movie or just get your nails done. This will give you a boost of energy and help clear your head—so you can be ready for the next round.
• Ask for help and support: No one says you should do it all by yourself. Ask grandparents to take the children for a sleep-over so you can enjoy a good night’s slumber, plan a romantic evening with your husband, or hire a young neighbor to watch the children on a Saturday afternoon so you can make time for yourself.
• Treat yourself once in a while: It doesn’t have to be an expensive meal at the latest trendy restaurant. It can be part of your routine, such as taking a walk to your local coffee shop, ordering a coffee or other drink of your choice, taking a seat, and watch the world go by. Grab a newspaper or magazine (remember those?) and just flip through the pages. Total time needed: 30 minutes max.
