Do you ever struggle to find space in your workplace’s communal fridge, or go to grab your lunch and find it missing?
Here are some tips on how colleagues can work together to keep their shared office kitchen clean.
1. Give everything a place. Declutter the miscellaneous takeout containers from the cupboards and recycle the chopsticks from last week’s sushi. Having a place for every functional tool and appliance makes the kitchen easier to use and clean.
2. Say goodbye to microwave messes. Microwave splatters have a knack for ruining an appetite. Get as many colleagues in the habit of covering their food before reheating.
3. No pile zone. The sink is a place to clean dishes; not store dirty ones. Keeping gloves, sponges, and dish soap by the sink eliminates excuses.
4. Wipe down. Keep disposable anti-bacterial wipes, paper towels, and other cleaning basics visible and on hand to encourage everyone to clean up after themselves.
5. Friday fridge clean-up. A no weekend leftovers policy will keep expired food out of the fridge and give everyone the space needed to store their lunch come Monday.
