Being caught up in the day-to-day demands of our fast paced lifestyles makes it easy to forget that there’s more to living than just surviving until bedtime.
If you never seem to get enough sleep, have trouble focusing or making decisions (even simple ones), and stress is starting to take its toll, then it’s understandable why your seemingly unbeatable fatigue has got you down.
While it may seem like you can’t get back to feeling like yourself – knowing the source of the fatigue and making changes can spark a return to your former energetic self.
Why do you feel like this? There are many reasons for feeling tired day after day. Sometimes it can be a short-term sleep loss due to stress, a big change in your life, a vitamin deficiency, a health issue, or your body recuperating from a recent illness – maybe even boredom.
Are you eating properly? Ensuring you’re energizing your body with the right fuel is a great first step to getting your body back on track. Make sure you are doing the following:
• Drink plenty of water.
• Hold that caffeine – two caffeinated drinks per day at the most.
• Don’t skip breakfast – or other meals.
• Eat healthy foods – fruits, vegetables, whole grain foods, low-fat dairy products, lean meats; cut back on high-fat, high-sugar and high-salt foods.
• Don’t overeat – watch your portion sizes since large meals can drain your energy. n Don’t crash diet – low-calorie diets or diets that severely restrict carbohydrates don’t contain enough energy for your body’s needs.
Are you over stressed? Taking control of your lifestyle choices is key! Enjoy yourself – there are tons of things you have to do, but make time for the things you want to do and get some work/life balance back into your life.
