Think about holiday shopping like running a marathon; slow and steady with enough energy to blast to the finish line will always win the race. Here are some tips:
• Walking around for hours with your coat on or carrying it can be cumbersome and uncomfortable. If you choose to shop at a mall, keep in mind that the only time you will actually be outside is when you go to and from your car. Consider shopping on a day when you can walk the short distance in a warm sweater so you do not have to carry your coat around, or, if your mall has such a facility, rent a locker to store your coat in.
• Avoid overloading yourself with packages. It is important to have clear visibility and freedom of motion to avoid mishaps. Stop to store the mounting packages in the trunk of your car so you are not carrying them around. Remember, do not leave your packages in plain view, like in the back seat.
• Take breaks at regular intervals. Sit down several times during your shopping trip to drink water, or sit and enjoy a cup of coffee rather than walking around with it. Many malls offer seating areas outside of the food court. Take advantage of these spots and take a load off!
• Try to eat something decent. Food courts can offer a variety of food choices. Go for something healthy rather than the quick hotdog. Enjoy your lunch and take the time to eat it. Give yourself the luxury of enjoying your food rather than scarfing it down. You will feel better.
