We all know the importance of fruit in our diets, but when it comes to making sure we eat our required daily intake, we tend to “overlook” its significance.
Perhaps it’s the fruit we choose that makes us skip the fruit bowl and head for something else, especially if we keep choosing the same fruit over and over. Why not change it up a little?
Here are a few ideas of how to enjoy more fruit, more often:
• Grab an apple for a quick snack, but not just any old apple. Try different types like red delicious, gala, fuji, spartan, yellow delicious or granny smith – there are over 7,500 varieties of apples worldwide!
• Take your time when walking through the fresh fruit aisle and see what is on offer. Check out those peaches, cantaloupe, pears and kiwi – there are a lot of sweet and delicious fruits that you can have fun tasting.
• Mix it up! Blend frozen fruit, juice and low-fat or fat-free yogurt to make a healthy shake that tastes great.
